Ecuador 1938 First Bolivian Games, Bogata

1s dull violet

Wrestling opponent with legs high in the air. Are the spectators smoking?

Craziness.

Can you top this?

O.K., I guess most people do not find the stamp as interesting as I do.

Even in the 1930's when this stamp was issued and Movie films had everyone smoking, I don't think there are too many images of smoking/smokers on stamps.

I like the wild depiction of the wrestlers, and the realistic illustration of the smoking ringside spectators adds to the scene.

Not what I would call the American Bank Note Company's most shining moment.
Interesting though. These were to commemorate the first Bolivarian Games. Do you have any more of the set? There are five altogether, the diver looks nice. He's not lighting up though.

I have the five in the set. There is also a set of five 1938 air mail stamps commemorating the games.

This is the nicest one of the airmail set....

Almost makes up for the other one....
