I was putting a small collection of Central Lithuania into the album, and came across these stamps...

pic of all five- not in the Scott catalogue.

Close up of the 40m- "oplata skarbowa" translates as "stamp duty"

The 100 and 200 value- I assume these are Revenue stamps.

Can anyone tell me more about them, and are they valuable?

Interesting. I don't think I have a resource that lists these, but I'll look a bit this evening.

Interesting stamps! All three are indeed Central Lithuania revenues (documentaries) issued in 1924.

The vertical one is the top value from the first set of four, all with the same design.

The other two are the top two values from the second set of six.

My very old Barefoot catalogue only lists a total of 11 revenues from Central Lithuania consisting of the two sets these stamps come from and a single Chancellery Fee stamp.

Nigel, Central Lithuania became part of Poland in 1922, and they stopped issuing postage stamps then. Did they still issue revenues?

Thank you Nigel for uncovering these Revenue stamps. Sounds like they are fairly unique.

Interesting question posed by Bee See as the regular issues for Central Lithuania ceased in 1922 as they were absorbed by Poland.

Very good point BeeSee!

I guess my catalogue must have the date wrong for these.

I think it's very unlikely indeed that they would have been issued in 1924 even if they had been printed when it was Central Lithuania and held in stock.

Once annexed by Poland this area was known as the Wilno Land (Ziemia Wilenska) rather than Central Lithuania.
