Hi.
What does the date mean on these stamps from lithuania.
seems to be during the WWII are they from russian occupation ?

This overprint is related to the new Lithuanian Soviet Republic. Established by a putsch under the auspices of the occupying Soviet troops on July 21 th 1940.

In 1940 a set of eight Lithuanian stamps was overprinted LTSR and was issued for use in Lithuania under Russian occupation.

35c red orange (90 cents)
2c orange (20 cents)
5c brown carmine (30 cents)
50c brown (75 cents)

always nice to know the value to. they nay not be all that valuable moneywise. but biggest value is in the historical aspect of these stamps. Reflecting an turbulent time in europe.
