Hi floortrader,
There are so many candidates we might not be able to say for sure.
The following three questions may help.
1. How many holes are there in the perfin?
2. How high is the "H" in mm?
3. Is there a visible postmark?

I think various sizes of 'H' were used for Hong Kong and Shanghai Bank

Those "H" perfins came from the Manchester branch of the "the bank" ,"the lion bank" "HSBC" ,it doesn't look like a normal postal cancel it has Manchester around the top and PP around the bottom ,so maybe they had their own postal room and canceled the out going mail. |

I'm by no means an expert on these, but I have information in my files regarding a large 'H' being used on 'contract note' stamps. GB revenue stamps 'H' are shown here, although the larger H appears to have an additional perforation. Perhaps another member may have additional information http://www.angelfire.com/pr/perfins...cts/0333.pdf |

This is my first appearance on this forum. Nice topic! I've got a few GB perfins myself that I haven't seen here so fare. Maybe you can help me out? Thanks if you can! The perfins read: C L E MB V&S UDC BS Don't know if they're all official perfins though... |

Hello Damian. You have some good clear perfins. To help identify, you could scan and post the front as well. Some perfins were used during a certain time-scale and knowing which stamp is a help as, for instance, some companies stopped trading or were amalgamated after a certain date. Other companies/councils/ authorities may have used the same perfin lettering later. |

Seeing which GB stamp is perforated would be a great help. For example...take the common letters S C which has been used by many companies, councils and corporations so it would be one of the most common. On the other hand a stamp with the letters S C could belong to one of the rarer ones too... Copestake, Moore, Crampton and Company which makes it highly desireable. |

Your 9 pin E is normally attributed to J.A. Ewing and Company, London. They traded between 1935 and 1975 which included the years of issue of your QE2 Wilding stamp. |
