States With Limited Recognition - Abkhazia

I have many of these and other Russian states, also covers used.

I'm sure this isn't a genuine Abkhazian issue.

It's like so many other labels on the market now that claim to be from various different countries but lack basic elements such as an explicit denomination and the country name in the local language.

Abkhazia uses the Russian ruble. Nominal of the stamp is enough to send an elephant.

They also have the Apsar, which is a tenth of a ruble.

Thanks for sharing the catalogue. It's the first systematic listing I've seen.

I only have a small number of these stamps in my collection.

A postscript - Michel is now listing the stamps of Abkhazia with full catalog numbers. The August 2020 issue of Michel Rundschau (the Michel Version of Scott Stamp Monthly) provides a catalog update for several hundred stamps deemed "legitimate" based on postal use on international mail (via Russia postal service - akin to how Northern Cyprus stamps are legitimized via the Turkish postal service and eventually became legitimate issues in all the major catalogs).

So, will Scott follow suit???

Treasuring others' trash is rather Michel's USP, isn't it? Frankly, the gap between unlisted junk and listed junk is a pretty narrow one!
