Sun and flowers, designed by Brazilian artist Martha Poppe, printed by lithography, and issued by Brazil on September 17, 1981 to publicize the International Year of the Disabled, Scott No. 1759.

Here is an image of another International Year of the Disabled stamp using the design elements of three flowers with two standing straight, and one drooping. This stamp was designed by Claude Jumelet after original artwork by J.P. Ormand, printed by lithography (Cartor), and issued for use in New Caledonia and Dependencies on September 2, 1981, Scott No. 468.

Reading braille, and the World Health Organization emblem, printed by photogravure, and issued by Egypt (UAR) as a Palestine Occupation stamp on April 6, 1961 for WHO Day, Scott No. N80. Bonus: Hands.

Like what you've collected so far. A topic that has affected me and discrimination that I fight on a daily basis. The state of Minnesota is not real handicap friendly.

I did not see that this topic had 5 pages of informative entries when I posted elsewhere on the site. It appeared to me that the discussion had ended in 2011. A big "thank you" for all the new data this discussion is providing to a group of Disability Studies scholars who have recently taken interest in stamps as a source of historical research.
