You bet they do - they are revenue stamps, after all and there are lots of revenue collectors.

Whether they are worth what is being asked is another question. I guess the market will decide. I don't recall seeing these listed in a catalogue...yet.

On a related note, did you know that the tags used in some municipalities for garbage collection are also legitimate revenue stamp items? I did not, until I saw a listing of them in a recent issue of the BNAPS Revenue Study Group newsletter. (British North America Philatelic Society - I am on the Board of Directors)

It's amazing what we can learn every day in this hobby!

Peter

Those are the new stamps the government has just started putting on cigarettes. Here are the old cigarette revenue stamps (the two on the right, the left one is from tinned tobacco).

I remember the Canadian government discontinuing these on cigarettes back in the early '70s. My Dad, a big smoker for a long time, started removing them and giving them to me insisting "These will be worth something someday". Memories mostly.

I've seen all kinds of wierd revenue stamps (all canadian) from a guy in my stamp club - gas paid, appliance inspected. I had noticed the ones on ciggy's way back when but never paid any attention to them - this sheet of oldies fetched $280 at auction a couple of weeks ago - don't know if its so relevat to your post but I was very interested in this sheet till it got way too rich for my blood -

You might want to check out one of Canada's leading stamp dealers - he deals almost exlusively in revenues : ESJ (Erling) vanDam. I have no connection to him professionally, but I do buy from him at shows now and then. He's very helpful in identifying odd (to me) items and has helped a lot of people I know to build lovely collections. http://www.esjvandam.com/

I bet you might even find the stamps pictured in the original post, or ask Erling for some pointers about them.

Those folowing this thread might also enjoy reading some of the issues of the BNAPS Revenue Study Group I mentioned previously. http://bnatopics.org/hhlibrary/news...rs/n-rev.htm (the online isues only go to 2004 - newer ones are restricted to members of the study group)

These revenues can be a very interesting area of collecting. I know that I have to keep resisting the urge to delve deeper.
