Just wondering, can you make out any of what the purple hand stamp says?

To t360: I believe the purple hand stamp says "Pioneer Mill Company Limited".
You can faintly see the "Company" part and "Limited" on the bottom of seal.

Hi - is the Pioneer Mill Co related to the Pioneer Inn - which was in Lahaina but burned down in the bad fire?

To txstamp: No, the Pioneer Mill Company Limited has no relation to the famous Pioneer Inn. Yes, unfortunately, it perished in the Aug 2023 fire.

The inn, the oldest continually operating hotel in Hawaii and a local landmark, was among the thousands of businesses and homes destroyed in the fires that on Tuesday engulfed Lahaina.

Circled in red where the Pioneer Inn stood.

Here's an Little Rock cover dating between the two Arkansas covers posted recently.

I was hoping that someone would post the "good" Little Rock postal marking.
That is one of the great stampless markings.

It is intriguing, maybe a little bit, in that neither version of the Little Rock markings included the "territory" status on them, which it was until 1836.

Ironic that the Arkansas cover is addressed to Nassau Street, later famous for all the stamp dealers who had shops and offices there.

Yeah, the Little Rock stampless is pretty cool.
To fill in the backstory for those following along at home, the one illustrated above is square. There are only a couple of these known. One was in the George Kramer sale at Siegel. This is the other.
There is a second Little Rock that is similar, but the upper left and right corners are removed leaving an arc at the top. That is more common.
And yes, neither says "Ark Territory" or "Ark T." Guess they were just planning ahead.

Ann Arbor, Michigan, 1831, Anson Brown letter.

Wow, I was raised in Ann Arbor. That is a *very* early cover for the area. The University of Michigan was only 15 years old. What do the contents have to say?

It's about a few things, mostly business content regarding money owed to the writer (Anson Brown), his purchase of mill property, trying to rent a store, the weather and health of everyone, and when might the steamboats run again.
