Gibbons Part I (Victorian) identifies that stamp (Gibbons #206) as one of about three dozen color trials, as noted above.

Perf 14, watermark Crown, "...head plate in mauve, value plate in deep blue," not assigned a separate number, "...from £75 in 1973." The selvage probably boosts the value at least ten percent higher.

Quite marketable in the U.K.

I find it odd that one perforates colour trials,
why is that?
