The "Petralona skull" (Archanthropus europaeus petraloniensis), fossilized remains of the oldest European hominid, was found in 1960 in Petralona cave, Chalkidiki, Greece. Here is a stamp depicting the skull and the cave, printed by lithography, and issued by Greece on March 15, 1982 to publicize the 3rd Congress of the European Anthropological Association, held in Halkidiki in September, 1982, Scott No. 1421.

Usually I don't add covers cancelled on various exhibition to my collections. If I do it will explode my collection as there are many fossils and minerals exhibitions around the world which take place regularly. However, I buy some of such covers from time to time. There are 4 exceptions above. Three small covers are produced by Palaeontology Museum of Munich (where I live last 11 years and visit the museum from time to time). The last one, cancelled in 2010, has personalized stamp depict most famous German dinosaur - Plateosaurus. The stamp is produced by Museum Auberlehaus and shows a head of a dinosaur skeleton of the museum.

Press release note of the stamp can be read, on German, here http://www.nq-online.de/index.php?N...artikel=6899

Some more covers from Kazakhstan

The first one has full set of stamps include the Block. Sent to Germany as register letter and has a custom label (the green one), as well as the label of postman who didn't found me at home (the converted yellow one, put on top of register letter label of Kazakhstan ) and registered letter lable of Germany added on the board.. This time I was lucky because no one of these labels are put over the stamps.

This cover was hold on custom as you can see on "Selbstverzollung" label and missing label of register letter of Germany. This time I was less lucky - some more lables are put over the stamps. When I tried to remove it, some stamps are damaged.

This cover just sent inside of Kazakhstan - I like full and clear postmark on it.

Some times ago I was hunting FDC of the set - quit difficult to find. At the end I found two collectors who sent me one FDC each and several covers with stamps on it.

Now I have several covers like this three for trade, if somebody want - PM me.

Great covers. You are very passionate about palaeontology. I have a topical collection of tall ships but it's been a long time I have add to it.

Fossils of Luxembourg, 1984

FDC

Regsiter letter sent at day of the issue

The second cover is a bit of unusual. I'll explain it next week. In the meantime you are welcome to say your opinion about it.

Just got this rare cover(Egypt 1979) from a seller at Delcampe, but it has very strong smell of tobacco. Probably it was stored near to some cigars. I just wonder if its somehow possible to remove the smell. Any suggestion is appreciated.

I had these Guyana stamps posted to me, unfortunately, I soaked them off the envelopes. As you can tell by the cancels the top 6 were sent from a different post office (Georgetown) from the bottom 6 (Nigg).

I have somebody on facebook, but he is hard in communication. Only once we succeed to make swap.
If you have some trusted people there, or if you go there, would appreciate if can send me some register letters with various dinosaurs or prehistoric animal stamps.
