I have 3 tobacco stamps that are in that catalog and I am curious to find any info on then including cat #, year issued, quantity, and est value if possible. Just wondering if anyone has a copy handy to save me ordering one for 3 stamps. Thanks in advance!

Edit: Apparently, I misread your post. Is there another Canada revenue catalogue besides Van dam? If so, disregard my comments!
Brian
I have a fairly recent Van dam catalogue, but you may have been misinformed. Although Van dam is the most definitive revenue catalogue, it has very poor coverage of Tobacco revenue stamps. In fact, the only ones that are listed are provincial tobacco stamps.
Still, it wouldn't hurt to post pictures of your stamps. There are some here who specialize in Canada revenues and might be able to offer some insight.

Yea, Lee Brandom wrote a catalog awhile back with more comprehensive coverage of Tobacco issues and I am hoping these 3 are in there. I realized I can't post pictures from my Iphone so I will have to upload one when I get home later. Stay tuned... |

Hello Stamps101
I have the Brandom catalogues.
I am wondering if you could scan the stamps or send a link, so that I can know exactly what you are referring to.
There were many types of tobacco stamps and a lot came from yearly series.

Hi stamps101
It appears that your stamps are the following:
1/2 Pound red orange with control # - Quebec Division Catalogue #P325 with a CV of $0.75 (Year & quantities not listed in the catalogue)
1/5 Pound lilac or violet with control # with the word "REWORKED" is # P418 with a CV of $0.75 (Year & quantities not listed in the catalogue)
1/10 Pound "CANADA CUSTOMS" blue w/o control numbers - issued between 1880 and 1885. The lengths varies from 240 to 244mm. Catalogue #P982 with a CV of $0.60
One thing I can tell you is that the CV I have given you are way out of wack with today's prices. My best guess is at least 10 times the values I gave you and possibly a lot higher. My Lee Brandom books were published for the Canadian Revenuse Syudy Group of the BNAPS and it was in the late 1960s or early 1970s that it was published. Also, to the best of my knowledge, the book has not been re-published since but I think it should be with the finds etc that have been made since this publication and for its suppliment, also early 1970s, which included liquor bottle seals.
Hope this helps.
