The problem with browsing the topical forum is that it reminds us of old interests. Have always loved dragons and now I have an itch to start my own dragon topical collection.
What would you consider to be the most interesting or impressive series based on dragons.
Hobby is just a socially acceptable term for obsession. |

I like Candaa because of the embossed feature of the earlier stamps, but some or any of the fantasy dragons interest me because of an old interest in war-gaming D&D games. Dangerous creatures indeed. Powerful.
Fascinating how the East looks at them, not sure about all aspects of that perspective myself. Need to research.
The Macau sheet / booklet (forget) is a very well done example.
I appreciate good things no matter which series really I think. |

Puzzler, nice to see another D&D player on here. Started playing back in 70's with the original red-box edition. DM'ed games with my kids until they grew up and moved out. Recently sent most of my books to a local game shop/book store to auction off for charity during a game night, raised about $500. Still keeping the old red-box though. Lots of good memories. Now back to starting a dragon topical collection. |

Saint George (c. 275/281-303 AD), known as Sant Jordi in Catalan, was born in Lydda, Roman Palestine, served as an officer in the Roman army, and was later venerated as a Christian martyr. Traditional legends about Saint George include his fateful encounter with a dragon. Here is an image of a stamp designed after a Romanesque fresco depicting Sant Jordi and the dragon in Sant Cerni de Nagol Church, engraved by Pierre Béquet, and issued by Andorra (French Administration) on November 17, 1984, Scott No. 328, plus an image of Sant Jordi Killing the Dragon, a 1434/35 painting by Catalan artist Bernat Martorell (?-1452). - nethryk |
