Any iPad owners out there use their iPads with their hobby. What software are you using on it? Are you cataloging your collection?

I'm curious what software is out there to help the stamp collector.

Right now the only thing I use iPad for is to read my Scott 2009 Stamp Catalog PDFs.

Apastuszak: While I'm sitting in my arm chair having my morning coffee I use the ipad to peruse SCF. I do it again while I have my before dinner drink. I also have it beside my bed in case I wake up in the middle of the night. If I can't get back to sleep I will turn it on just to make sure that Rod isn't getting into any mischief while the rest of are sleeping.

I find the ipad convenient now that I have to hold things at arms length to read them. I just do that squeezy finger thing that expands the image and "Bob's your uncle".

I have had this funny feeling someone was watching me.....
I thought it was the Bunyips.

I have a tin roof, and as the temperature varies,
there are lots of odd noises, creaks and grinds
as the huge bi-metallic strip does its work.

Sometimes Daddy Honeyeater walks along the corrugated iron
and you can hear the foosteps and the screeches and clicks
as he keeps the women in line.

Mind you, lying in bed with driving rain on a Tin Roof is the payoff

I use mine quite a bit. I keep track of my collection primarily through my website, and having the iPad with me allows me to see what I have (or don't have) at a quick glance. For those collecting areas that I haven't posted on my website yet, or that I'm compiling a list of sources/prices for as I comparison shop, I have some Excel spreadsheets that I store in the Cloud. I can read and edit them from the iPad, yet still have a current copy when I get back to my computer.

I also have PDFs of several of my primary reference materials, and I carry those with me on the iPad. I can also access Michel's electronic catalog since it's Internet-based.

Then there's always the ability to browse and buy on the fly. The ebay app is great, an I have all my online dealers and auctionhouses bookmarked.

And SCF, of course!

I've got an Android tablet and I think its a great resource for the collector.

With more and more services moving to the web the possibilities are really only limited to your imagination.

Other uses include: reading Linn's through their online website (if you have a subscription), creating your own perf gauge (I have not tried this yet but I imagine with the screen's backlight it would make perf identification very easy... you just have to be careful of the scale representation), browsing through the Smithsonian's complete US Collection via their website (http://arago.si.edu/ ... I think for the iPad there is a non-Flash version available), as well as curating your own personal collection through whatever means is easiest for you.

Also check out Splashtop Desktop HD for Android/iOS which is a fantastic remote desktop viewer (far better than VNC). With it I can watch TV from the ATSC tuner connected to my computer as well as flash video on the web - really whatever you can do on your desktop you will also be able to do on your tablet.
