What is the difference between Linns Stamp News Weekly, Linns Stamp News Special Edition Monthly and Scott Stamp Monthly?

It is my understanding that the Linn's Stamp News Special Edition incorporates material that was formerly in Scott's Stamp Monthly. I have a digital subscription to Linn's Stamp Weekly, but also receive a paper edition of the Special Edition. I would have said it came monthly, but lately it seems to be a little more sporadic.

Having said all that Linn's may have discontinued the paper edition, since about once a month the digital edition is expanded to show new stamps of the world.

Their web site references both Scott Stamp Months and the Linn's Special Edition, which is really confusing.

SSM ceased to exist, and in theory, once a month the Linn's weekly is augmented with additional material.

I haven't seen the special monthly Linn's on a newsstand near me, so the potential for picking up new collectors through spur of the moment newsstand purchases is seemingly gone. Maybe it wasn't happening, anyway.

I'm thinking of subscribing to the digital Linn's. Is Linn's worth getting?

So, if I subscribe to the electronic Linn's, can I see back issues?

Just subscribed. I can see all of 2010 Scott Stamp Monthly and the current Linns. I was hoping to see some 2011 stamp monthlies.

I don't recall specifically, but Nov 2010 (or somewhere right around there) might be the last SSM. It was pretty thin by the end.

I don't understand why I have to go through that clunky interface for linn's digital. Is there some reason they can't just give me a PDF?

I just saw Coin World got a native ipad app. Maybe Linn will too..

I've griped about this for years. Believe it or not, it's actually a great improvement over the original clunkier interface -- trust me, I'm a long-suffering charter subscriber.

Yeah, it's called stupidity. Amos Publishing has diverted most of their stupidity resources to Scott and now Linn's.

However, I do want to note that there are several at both Scott and Linn's who have made major efforts to try to change things around and have also made major improvements over the past decade. Their hands are simply tied by a ridiculously outdated business model. Some great ideas, but limited execution results in a product with limited usefulness and often poor sales.

I printed the issue to PDF, but each page is an image and the final file is over 100 mb in size!

I like PDFs also, but at least try to consider it from the publisher's point of view.

If Linn's were emailed to you as a PDF, they would sell 1 subscription for every 1000 that were shared illegally with friends.

If you don't believe it, spend a little time googling your favorite magazines.

Right now I can print the issue to PDF and go upload it somewhere. They're not gaining any security. And, try as I might, I cannot get PDFs of Aquarium Fish International, the other magazine I subscribe to that makes PDFs available.

Coin World just got an iPad app. Here's hoping that Linn's gets one too.

So, I went to send Linn's some feedback using the email address provided on the web site. The email came back to me undeliverable.

This subscription is not starting off on a good note...
