Gustav Albert Lortzing (1801–1851) was a German composer, actor and singer. He is considered to be the main representative of the German comic opera. His main works are, "The Tsar and the Carpenter" and "The Poacher", both of which were quite satirical of political and social conditions of the times. A recording by the Bavarian Opera Company in Munich. (And thanks to Nethryk for showing me how to do the link!)

Heitor Villa-Lobos (1887 – 1959) was a Brazilian composer, described by some as the single most significant creative figure in 20th-century Brazilian art music. Villa-Lobos has become the best-known and most significant Latin American composer to date. A prolific composer, he wrote numerous orchestral, chamber, instrumental and vocal works, totaling over 2000 works by his death in 1959. His music was influenced by both Brazilian folk music and by stylistic elements from the European classical tradition, as exemplified by his Bachianas Brasileiras (Brazilian Bachian-pieces). His Preludes for Guitar are important works in the guitar repertory, and were inspired by Andrés Segovia. Some of his notable work includes A Floresta do Amazonas and operetta Magdalena: a Musical Adventure.

A stamp featuring Heitor Villa-Lobos was issued by the Brazilian Postal Service on April 26, 1977.

Arthur Honegger (1892 – 1955) was a Swiss composer, who was born in France and lived a large part of his life in Paris. He was a member of Les Six. Honegger was a prolific composer in many genres, writing for the theatre and concert hall, as well as for the cinema. Much of his music from the 1920s is rhythmic, dissonant, and austere and shows great freedom in the treatment of tonality. His most successful orchestral works are Pacific 231, which was inspired by the sound of a steam locomotive, and Rugby, which reflected his love of the sport. Other notable works include oratorios Jeanne d'Arc au bûcher and La Danse des morts, operas Judith, Antigone, Amphion, ballets Skating Rink, Sémiramis, and chamber music.
Bundespost issued a stamp on February 6, 1992 to mark the 100th Anniversary of the Birth of Arthur Honegger.
