This cover bears not a stamp but a "cinderella:" the first US postal label depicting an airplane. The plane is at the center, between two early dirigibles and partially obscured by the cancel. The occasion was an airplane flight over the Hudson River as part of the two week long Hudson Fulton Celebration in 1909 which commemorated the tercentennial of Hudson's navigation of the river and the centennial of Fulton's steamboat. Cancelled September 25, 1909. Valid postage was supplied, of course, by the Sc. 372.
