reading Boggs "the Postage stamps and postage history of canada" on the second Ottawa printing states
12x12 (11 3/4-12 X 11 3/4-12 , 11 3/4-12 X 12-12 1/4 ). Where 12 1/4 could be the vertical perforation.
Therefore this should/could be scott #41.

Unitrade list that variety of the 41 as 12x 12.25 - However I have found quite a few that are 12.25 both sides. Here is werts bottom side -- I tried the 12 and it just doesn't fit as perfect as 12.25. Now I don't see a listing anywhere in unitrade for a 12.25x 12.25 but I know I have at least 1/2 dozen others.

So, if 2012 Unitrade says ...

1 - #41a is 12x12.25
2 - #37d is 12x12
3 - Mine is 12.25x12.25 as nitrolures says.

And cynical says there is no mention of 12.25x12.25 in Scott Specialized Catalogue of Canadian Stamps...???

Where does it leave me to find out more about it...???
What books are left to look at...

Wert, I think your stamp is a 41 straight up. A 37 would not be so orange, would probably have a guide dot in the lower left corner like here:

https://goscf.com/t/22248#22248

As for perforation, I measured a bunch of my 41's electronically and mathematically and while some electronically come up close to 12.25, all are closer to 12.0 mathematically.

I think that is because of inaccuracy in the electronic gauge and also the scan of the stamp.

#41 tends to have changes in colour due to oxidation, while #37 does not, based on the stamps I have examined.

Yes, that clearly has a dot.

If the orange scan colour is accurate, I would say 35a (Montreal).

BeeSee...Here is my dilemma with this 35a stamp.

1 -It is NOT a 35x
2 -It is NOT a 35xi
3 -Could be a 35xii

But the cancel is where I can identify it as a 35xii..Is there any way of finding out without using some chemical to lighten or remove the cancel...???

Wert, a variety is only as good as it can be seen.

However, the way I intemperate Unitrade, 35xii is yellow (Ottawa printing). Otherwise it would be listed as 35axii if it was on the orange Montreal printing.
