Pied-Noir ("Black-Foot") is a term referring to people of French and other European ancestry who were born or lived in French North Africa. Here is an image of a stamp depicting black bare foot prints on a map of France, designed by Roger Druet, printed by photogravure, and issued by France on June 27, 1987 to commemorate the World Assembly of Expatriate Algerians, held in Nice, 25 years after the end of French rule in Algeria in 1962, Scott No. 2048, Y&T No. 2481.
