Thanks Wert
I have quite a number to mount in my albums.
I want the album specifically for Railway Post Office (R.P.O.) cancellations and other railway related items.
I just finished up an album for the steamer "Noronic" and my 1939 Royal Visit covers / cards. I hope to do this with all of my postal history material in my collection.

Hi Wert
All I can say is that I have spent many years of trading, searching the auction houses and going through the different dealer's boxes. This is how I achieved getting all these covers and cards.
Just keep trying <G>

Nice card Fifia
Does the card have any RPO of any kind? Even if it doesn't, it still is a nice card.

Wert... another source of RPO covers is a group called the Mobile Post Office Society. They have a cover sales department that has a LOT of covers inexpensively priced. |

PoStat beat me to the punch. Thanks for that. I will just elaborate a little further.
Yes, the Railway Post Offices are a specialty that a collector can spend a lifetime researching. You can get in to the different routes (runs I mean), railway station markings, express markings and on and on.
Having stated this, even with the types I mentioned, there are hammers (cancellers) that differ so much too and some of the more serious postal historians try to differentiate on those too.
So, to sum up, the possibilities are limitless really.

This one kind of ties into the theme plus it's unique. 1898 Cover from Honduras to the US I just love the "Mail delayed, Train late " Slogan as this must have happened frequently enough to create a Machine cancel for this. |

There is a similar thread in the postcard section of the forum. I don't usually get to see vintage Canadian items, though! :-) |
