On February 12, 1999 Japan issued this horizontally-arranged, se-tenant pair of phalaenopsis orchid stamps (Sc #Z272a) for Tokyo prefecture. In addition to the sheet stamps shown here, stamps were sold in booklets of ten (2 x 5) with straight edges on left, right, and bottom of pane.

This March 2, 1992 62 yen value of Japan commemorates the 8th Congress on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES) hosted by Kyoto. Stamp depicts an orchid and two chimpanzees.

This October 18, 1984 80pf + 40pf semi-postal stamp (Mi #726) of Berlin depicts a marsh helleborine orchid (Epipactis pelustris). The first day cancel shows a lady slipper orchid (Cypripedium calceolus), the largest orchid in Europe.
