Animals With Horns (Or Antlers) And Hooves, Horned, Hoofs

A moose on the loose is depicted on this 40 kopeck, March 26, 1957 stamp (Sc #1922) from the USSR's "Fauna " series of 1957-9. Although usually sedentary and slow-moving, moose (Alces alces) can move quickly if disturbed.

On May 2, the USA issued a 42c postal stationery envelope (Sc #U663) with this elk or wapiti (Cervus canadensis) indica. Envelopes were produced in six configurations: #10 regular and window, #9 regular and window, and #6 3/4 regular and window.

Here is a 3 litas value (Sc #881) featuring a moose head facing left, from Lithuania's Municipal Coats of Arms series. Stamp depicts the coat of arms of Sirvintos and was issued on October 4, 2008.

On September 10, 1994 Lithuania issued this 80 centas value (Sc #499) as a part of its Municipal Coats of Arms series. Arms of the village of Perloja are depicted on the stamp. Perloja, population 784, is located in a forested area in the southern part of the country.

This March 11, 1976 stamp (Sc #587) of Liechtenstein depicts a glazed, ceramic European mouflon (Ovis aris musimon). It is the lower value in Liechtenstein's handicraft-themed, two-stamp EUROPA set.

On November 22, 1974 Chile issued a set of four, 200 escudo stamps, arranged as a se-tenant block, to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the Juan Fernandez Islands. One of these stamps (Sc #455) depicts a domestic goat (Capra aegagrus hircus). These animals were brought to the islands by the Spanish colonizers.

Here is the 3c value (Sc #273) of Liberia's April 10, 1937 bi-color, engraved, six-stamp set depicting native fauna. Stamp shows a West African dwarf buffalo. This animal has a red brown coat and it grows to a size of 550-700 lbs., making it much smaller than the other African buffaloes.

On September 1, 1951 Sudan issued this 1 millim official stamp (Sc #O44) as a part of its "Sudanese Views" definitive series. Stamp depicts a male Nubian ibex. It was long thought that the Nubian ibex is a subspecies of the alpine ibex, but DNA testing has proven this view to be in error.
