Sure could use some help with these - I'm pretty sure they are from Hungary, but I don't know what date. Are they some type of revenue stamp?? Thanks. Donna
Last two look like cut out's (cut squares) from postcards (postal stationery). probably need a specialized catalogue to get a number for the whole postcard or piece.
The first is a leaf stamp, which has been talked about on SCF previously.
Thanks, I just did a search on SCF for Hungary and leaf and found one picture of a leaf stamp, but not like this one. I just wondered if anyone had some more information about it.
You shall require someone with a modern Hungarian revenue catalogue, which I have not come across in 12 years. Forbin lists up to 1915 but yours is 1929
Best you can do is file it under revenue circa 1929
Then I cannot ID the revenue without the watermark Possibly 1878 effets de commerce catalogue forbin #39 in ordinary or pelure paper krajczar currency, large medallion
It's now spelt "krajcár" in Hungarian and I believe is pronounced, "krai-tsar" with "krai" as in "cry" and "tsar" with both the "t" and "s" sounded (not a "z" sound).
It's basically a Hungarian spelling and pronunciation for "kreutzer".
I'm happy to be corrected by anyone who has knowledge of Hungarian.
