The Forever stamp honors Chief Standing Bear (c. 1829–1908), a Ponca chief and Native American civil rights leader who became the first Native American judicially granted civil rights under American law.

Are US revenue stamps on your radar? If so, there are several examples to be had. The earliest depiction of a Native American on a US stamp was this 10 lb. tobacco tax stamp from 1868.

A nice set of native Americans and their art was issued by Czechoslovakia on June 20, 1966. It was issued to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Náprstek museum, a museum of Asian, African and Native American art located in Prague:

Haida are an indigenous group who have traditionally occupied Haida Gwaii, an archipelago just off the coast of British Columbia, Canada, for at least 12,500 years. The Haida are known for their craftsmanship, trading skills, and seamanship.

Had Dorothea Lange's bosses at the FSA realised that Mrs Owens wasn't "white", it's unlikely that Lange's photograph would have gained wide currency - or even appeared at the time.

Note: According to Library of Congress: "Katherine Mary Dunham is born on 22 June 1909 in a Chicago hospital. Her father, Albert Millard Dunham, is black; her mother, Fanny June Dunham, is a woman of French-Canadian and American Indian heritage."
