I have quite a few irregular mint sheets of stamps that I would like to take apart. My intent is to eventually sell a sampler of stamps (e.g. different denominations) together - maybe in groups of 10 stamps or so.. What would be a way of safely putting such a sampler together that would keep them relatively stable (spaced out but not falling onto each other) and maintain the adhesive backing of the original stamps. I'm presuming that some kind of plastic sleeves of some kind???

By the way, these are not valuable stamps - World War II Hitler stamps, so is it even necessary to preserve the adhesive backing of the originals?

Any ideas?

for imaging them, I would suggest a dealer "stock card", similar (but smaller) than a vario page. for packaging, storing and shipping, glassine envelopes are your best bet. as long as you keep the humidity and moisture down, there should be no problems with the gum on the backs.

Carleroo,
NEVER take sheets apart, the stamps are worth more in sheets.
Pairs are worth more than singles and then blocks are worth more than pairs. You would do much better selling the sheets as is.

Common misconception. Leave the plate numbers intact with a single Stamp or a block of 4 or 6. As for the rest, they are worth more as singles than in sheets and also easier to sell. Not many buyers are looking for full sheets as it's a pain to house them. Every dealer does the same thing with sheets, they tear them down and sell them off as singles. But, before you tear them down, how old are they ? The age might bring in a new set of options.

Exactly Stallzer. Go right ahead and separate them as they are very common and worth less than face in most cases and still used as postage to this day. Like my friend stated in the above post just make sure exactly what you have first then bombs away! Have fun and enjoy your collection.

Thanks, all. These stamps were "liberated" by Allied soldiers in WWII, in this case, my father. In the bit of research I've done these are Hitler stamps and were available in the millions. I think they are worth almost nothing...please correct me if I'm wrong. See example below.

carleroo,
My brother, "in the myth", who is a member on here, collects these.
Please do not split the sheets.
You cannot sell on here until you have posted 50 remarks but he would love to hear from you. his email address is;

boctok1@mail.com
He would be grateful if you gave him chance to buy your stamps before trying non member avenues

I'm sure your Brother is going to appreciate all the spam mail he's about to receive from the spam bots who troll this site.

I'm afraid I agree with stallzer. Delete your post Fable, and email your brothers address to carleroo. Some things are best left private.

I appreciate your concern gents but how can I email someone when I do not have their email address?
He and I cannot use the internal email on this site, as we have not enough messages to allow it to work.

It's the icon to the left of the Star, Email poster. Or instead of using the @ symbol, simply type "at XXX .com" All the human beings understand the meaning, but the spam bots don't.

Stallzer,
I know this, but it does not work when you have less than 50 posts, thanks for trying to help though and of course replying to you gives me another point toward my 50
