Aphrodite is the ancient Greek goddess of love, beauty, pleasure, and procreation. According to one version of Greek myth, Aphrodite arose from sea foam and came ashore on Cyprus, hence she is also known as Cypris (Lady of Cyprus). Here is an image of a stamp depicting the Beach of Aphrodite, a popular tourist destination featuring large upright rocks, engraved and printed by Bradbury, Wilkinson & Co., Ltd., and issued for use in Cyprus on August 1, 1955, Scott No. 173.
