My wife and I occasionally watch "Hoarders" on TV... it helps remind us to declutter our lives, on a regular basis.
As I watch these people struggle with their "oceans" of stuff, it makes me wonder about stamp collectors... and our "habits." I'll be the first to admit that I don't just have a "neat and tidy" collection with one of each stamp. I have boxes and bags of stamps, pages with stamps, stockbooks with stamps... sure, they are all in some semblance of "order," and I DO "sell off the excess" from time to time. But still.
So it made me ponder whether some (or many?) stamp collectors are merely "hoarders" who have found a socially acceptable way to channel their hoarding tendencies into a very specific field that doesn't take up too much physical space.
