HelloI am in need of your help again. This stamp is the same design as the Egypt Sc# 50. It is a 1M value and is orange, not olive brown. The notes at the end of this set say these stamps exist imperf but but are not known to have been issued imperf. This isn't a cut square and is stamp paper. Is this a forgery/reprint? I can find no other listing for this stamp, at least not in Scott. As always your help is appreciated.
David

I'd guess it's a cut-out from a wrapper.

Hi nigelc, Thanks for that but it is the wrong kind of paper for a wrapper. It is too stiff. My main area of collecting is postal history covers as well as stationery and wrappers and this is the wrong kind of paper for any of them. I am pretty certain it is on stamp paper. It is too stiff to be an envelope or wrapper and isway too thin to be a postal card. I am leaning more towards a forgery or reprint but am not sure.
Many thanks
David

It looks like the 1931 1m wrapper:

Hi again nigelc, Thanks again. It is identical to that but I have other Egyptian wrappers and is not on wrapper paper. I'll have to go along with you as they are identical but still am not totaly convinced. The paper it is printed on is like parchment paper.
Thanks again
David

Hello, I think I may need to clarify something I said in an earlier comment. When I said the paper was just wrong I meant that the paper this is printed on is wronf foe a newspaper wrapper. The paper this is on feels like parchment paper. I didn't want anyone to take it the wrong way.
Thanks
David

Hi David,

I suggest you contact Jan Kosniowski, the author of the link I posted above about this.

He is currently preparing a new catalogue of newspaper wrappers which I'm keen to obtain when it's published.

According to his site you can contact him at: jpkos [AT] aol.com

Best wishes,
