My daughter Cassie received several 3 ring binders and Mystic stamp pages for the binders (up to 2002). These pages looked nice when I first opened the package, but after trying to find where the stamps go I decided these pages stink. Regular issues are several years to a page and commemoratives are by the year, they waste a lot of paper on these pages too. Does anyone else like them or dislike them? I will NOT go buy these pages to keep the album up to date.

LeAnn

I don't have any experience with Mystic Stamps albums. I started as a kid with the Harris Ambassador worldwide album. The problem with that album was that the stamps were mounted on both sides on the pages and started to interlock. I bought glassine interleaves to solve the problem. Then I saved up to buy a Scott National for my US stamps. The Scott albums are expensive, though. Now I have a few Scott albums and a large number of binders with Vario stock sheets.

Here's a post from CCF, I really like the pages in the book, no wasted pages or space on the page.

"We were cleaning out some boxes looking for magazines for my daughter's project. Fred found his stamp collecting book. I am simply amazed. It is a book copyright 1961. He collected all these stamps when he was in boy scouts, and received a merit badge. There is even a page for the merit badge. The book is not full, but there are stamps from almost every country in the book. Some of these countries no longer exist. I wonder what their stamps are worth now. There are several stamps he hinged onto plain paper, since there was no spot for the stamp. All these pages are just shoved into the book. I'm still amazed. We worked on stamps all afternoon as a family. It was great.

Oh, the book is called: "The New World Wide Postage Stamp Album". It was published by Minkus Publishing, which still is in business, but bought out by someone else. They still have pages for stamp books."

Anyone know anything about this company or book???

Hi LeAnn,

It's great that you could work together on the stamps as family!

Jim Bryden provides an excellent history of the Minkus albums with pictures on his web site. Also the New York Times ran an interesting obituary detailing the life of Jacques Minkus, the founder of the Minkus line, when he passed away in 1996.

Unfortunately I'm pretty sure that Minkus worldwide albums are no longer being produced. Minkus was sold to Amos Press, the publishers of Linn's Stamp News and the Scott line of stamp collecting products. Amos Press has purchased nearly all the major stamp album lines. From what I can tell, Amos is publishing only yearly supplements to the Minkus worldwide albums. The don't list any complete worldwide albums for sale on their web site, only the yearly supplements.
