Dear friends..
This is a postal stationary which I got few years ago, I was not giving importance to it.. but recently when I see materials getting sold in ebay, I am feeling this is having some importance..
This is a medical bulleting issued on 8th July 1948, by Chief Secratry Government of Cochin (South India). .
Even though the bulletin only states that kings condition is creating anxiety.. the king passed away on same day.
now my query to you guys..
Does this cover have philatelic importance .. or is it only historical importance..
Can this be used in thematic exhibit of Elephants.. showing elephant in cot or arms.

I would have to say that there is definately some historical importance here.

Other collectors may categorize this item as a 'royalty' thematic. Interesting item you have there.

Our elephant,

Thanks for sharing a very interesting historical cover!

Others may disagree but I believe thematics are how you define them. I collect stamps with microscopes or laboratory scenes on them. For me it must be on the stamp and not on the cover or postmark. I have been tempted to include microscope-themed cancellations and advertising covers from laboratory and microscope supply companies, but for now it's all about the stamps.

I think a collection about the King's death could be fascinating, not to mention unique! If you want to include this item in with your other elephants who's going to stop you? But I think the King's death trumps the elephants--- the coat of arms is on many other items.

Karen
