I have a few old Scott catalogs from the 1960s. Are they worth anything, or just chuck em?

I have a 1932 edition that came in a box of stuff some years ago. Single volume, about 4-1/2 inches by 6-1/2 inches by 3 inches thick with 1,966 pages of listings not counting the index, watermark info, a lot of advertising and other stuff. Unlike those of more recent times, this was a true catalog because Scott actually used it to sell these stamps "in good condition" and not just give an estimate of current value. Wonder how stamp values would differ if Scott was still in the market as a stamp dealer and not just a registrar of sanctioned issues. |

Pre-1960 Scott Catalogues are often saved by specialist collectors of certain countries, as Scott once listed some items, then later removed them.

Well technically speaking I don't collect them but I do have to admit that I have a couple of old ones that I'm glad somebody didn't toss. Believe it or not this 1925 edition and a 1938 I also have get opened and used. I've been able to identify and sort many unlisted varieties that would have been much harder to do without them. |

If by collect you mean purchase and then never get rid of after purchasing a newer volume. I have 3 volumes of Scotts from 1992 and Scott specialized from 1995 just off the top of my head. |

The Spellman museum had several boxes of them from the 1970-2000 period for $1 each, last time I was there. |
