Hi all just thought I would add in my 2 cent worth.
I use the Scott's 2007 CD,Very easy once you know how also easy to scroll with not to much lag,I know it depends on the age of a computer as it tends to lag more on older computers.
But the best thing about the CD is the price as it's only cost's a fraction of what the books are worth.
Regards Harry
Oh and P.S. this is for Bob with all the GGGG's using the CD on XP widows I had to access the computer's drive and double click on the icon, and with Vista it just had a pop up in the window

As far as Scott's goes I've got 1933, 35, 37, 38, 45, 48, 70, 73, 86, & finally 95. I've got the US Sp 1986 and 2007 on CD. It's getting too much
$$$ since I'm not a retailer there is no tax deduction either.

From time to time my coin club auction has an old Scott catalog that brings from $1 to $5 depending upon age and condition. Ages usually run in the 1950 to 1980 range.

If you have old catalogs that you want to get rid of, don't just chuck them... try to find a younger collector to give them to. Perhaps your local public school library could help. While you're at it, tuck a few duplicates in the pages for someone to discover.

Just as I have a Scott Catalog from the 1980's and 1990's as well as the 2000's and 2010's that I still keep around. Sometimes it's an interesting exercise to look up a stamp that has significantly increased (or in some cases, decreased) in value recently and see the trend as to how many years the stamp may have been modestly valued with little or no activity 20-30 years ago and all of a sudden in the past decade or so it has shot up in value.

Quite often it makes for very revealing information and/or provides the data necessary to make an interesting graph.

It's an interesting idea, but where would I put them all? I've got a hard enough time finding room for my real stamps! I've got the Scott 2007 on disc that I use here in the desert. I've got a complete 2002 set at home. I can't think that Scott is all that marketable to collect but the Minkus
country catalogs on the other hand are hard to find, considering most of them are out of print!

You could also look for philatelic libraries in your area that might be interested. The Northwest Philatelic Library is run by my stamp club and they collect Scott catalogues. They have copies dating back to the 1890s!

Not Scott but I found a nice condition 1947 Stanley Gibbons in a charity shop recently.
It is a first edition in this form though so a pretty nice find.
It even had a few Italian stamps left inside but nothing too interesting unfortunately.
Some interesting reading and plenty of detail some of which is missing from more recent editions.
