I've collected the German Foreign Volunteer Legions for about 10 years now, but there were always two sets that I was sure I'd never get -- the imperforate
Flemish Legion Emperor/Empress sheetlets and the imperforate
Walloon Legion sheetlets.
There were a couple reasons for this First of all, they were expensive -- the catalog values were the highest of the Legion issues. But most importantly, even if I could scrounge up the cash, they never appeared at auction. Until a few months ago, I'd seen the Flemish Legion set a grand total of once in 10 years, and I'd never seen so much as a photo of the Walloon Legion set.
Well, SCF, it's been a good year for the bucket list! Back in February I managed to snag the elusive
Flemings, and this week I finally laid claim to the Walloons.
A little background
here.
Aren't they pretty!

The 100 Fr sheet has a small crease, but considering the rarity, I'm not gonna complain. Now I just need to erase all my bookmarks for auction sites since my stamp budget's blown for the foreseeable future.
