Am I missing a match here? The lines are too narrow for any local and most of the printeds, too wide for 734 and 841.

841 does say lines can be 8 - 9 mm, but these measure 9.5 mm to me. Also, the page says that the state should be two letters??

Still, 841 is the closest, I think. Is it 841??

This is getting annoying!

These are fakes - they were done a long time ago - the device was probably never in the post office.
Things that 'look like precancels but are not' are certainly annoying. For a century the info on what is bad and why has been hard to come by. The answer to 99% of the problem is on the horizon. There is a fakes catalog in preparation that should be available within a year.

I have never owned any of the Earee Album Weeds books so I cannot say for sure. I do know that the upcoming fakes catalog from Bill Cummings will replace all existing scholarship on the subject.

chasa, That is awesome news, after getting back into the hobby and realizing that there are just as many fakes and there are genuine stamps, I have searched and searched for info on these.

Bill Cummings sent me a revised CD recently. Ask around at the convention, you should be able to get one.
