when I go to a postcard show I always love the foreign 50 cent postcard boxes...i always look at the stamp side first..i found this one of a luxery liner and decided to check out the cancel...pretty sure its the ships cancel..the stamp is a 75 cent of a Lira which believe it or not was a pretty sound currency at one time..probably the overseas rate for a postcard..will have to check that also..its nice to pull something that others have overlooked !

You are correct, Philb.

"PIROSCAFO POSTALE" translates as "STEAMSHIP MAIL"

Some additional info:

- 75 centesimi was the correct postal rate, from 1 Jan 1926 until 31 Aug 1944

- SS Conte Grande, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SS_Conte_Grande, Maiden voyage 13 April 1928

p.s
It's a very old thread but I see philb is still active, so I decided to "resurrect" the thread.
