I searched for "database" and could not find a topic that addresses
this, so here is a topic to collect any stamp databases out there.
Here goes the first one, an online catalog of stamps. It's in
German, and Germany seems to be the most populated section:

Any others?

Uweinnh, I just happen to be in Adminware.ca checking out Robin Harris' great database on GB MACHINs. You can get it at the following link:

These are great. Makes me consider collecting Canada. This isn't a database, but I love all the philatelic info. http://www.stampspoland.nl/index.html

I've used a few online catalogs/databases, but each has its problems.

Online stamp catalog from stanley gibbons (fairly useless as free version without images, but I've used it in a pinch):

I've been working on Lithuania recently and ran across this site

http://stamps.adie.lt/pradzia.html

It isn't in English, but it's still pretty useful.

Londonbus1, The site you reference is very nice. A Wiki version of a stamp database. Many advantages to a database that is maintained by the users, i.e. relevant non-commercial information and the ability to represent "non-cataloged" varieties. There are also the inherent problems associated with getting enough people involved to contribute to the site. As with any Wiki, information will need to be considered suspect until verified by a reliable source. I do agree that this site could potentially be very useful. Thank you for sharing it.

Almost a year since this thread was mentioned so I thought I would update where the SOTW online wiki stands at the moment :

Current Site Stats - 103,768 pages containing 70,376 images with a total of 173,447 edits made. And growing each day - Like Tim says we are always looking for more contributors...

Simple to edit once you know the basics.

Tim I found these sites you might be interested in :

Estonia : http://www.efur.se/catalogue/cat0.html
Poland : http://www.stampspoland.nl/index.html
Ukraine : http://www.ukrainian-philately.info/menu.htm

I found for Latvia but the site seems to have a virus on it.
