I had an cover auction end on ebay May 27..someone in Germany was high bidder...and thats the last I heard of him..i sent an invoice and several messages over the past month..no response...i imagine ebay has received no response either..now ebay says I have until July 3 to resolve the case..if he does not communicate what choice do I have but to close the case and give him a bad feedback as an insincere bidder...i should probably know..but I don't what action if any ebay takes ..or is it just my negative feedback ???

Well since you can't actually give bad feedback for bidders ebay will either cancel the auction altogether so you can relist the item, or they will let you offer it to the 2nd highest bidder if you are acceptable with the amount the 2nd bidder placed. I did have this happen once and ebay simply let me wait out the 30 day period and then relist the item. |

Its a very strange game when the seller has to be honorable but not the bidder! |

You can claim unpaid item and the buyer gets a strike against them, deservedly, or, you can let it ride out time-wise and lose your sellers 9% fee you pay ebay and don't worry about it. Or is that when you relist without waiting?? Yes, that's it. Don't leave feedback. In case he decides to be a bad guy and leave you bad. Just let it ride. I know, it feels like you should do something but you are doing something by letting it ride. You are maintaining what little control you can and still seem businesslike and gentlemanly. Depending on how much that cover was sold for of course. It is frustrating not being able to relist right away but that's the biz. Oh, if you claim a nonpaying bidder you can relist. Bunch of hassle it is really, but you are giving the buyer the benefit of the doubt in case he had an emergency happen or something. You never know. Look at his bidding now and other items he is bidding on in advanced search for member. That might help you decide which course to take. |

You could give him/her a neutral feedback and state the reason for it. I also look at neutral feedbacks and the comments associated as these are nearly as important as a negative one. |

Sellers are only allowed to leave postive feedback for their buyers now.
That's why Phil mentioned leaving positive and a comment in capitals that is neutral (or worse). |

Looks that way...i think I would give up the sellers fee if ebay does count a strike against him..if I blitz him with a bad remark I don't really see how he could come back at me...he just bid and shrugged it off !! |

philb You assume the bidder is a bad individual or bad bidder but you really don't know what happen. Just give a bad remark and case closed. Daniel |

If that's the 'Blue Owl' I think it is then he shouldn't even have an ebay account. It is a disgrace. |

Daniel, I let ebay close it..i told them I can not resolve the problem if he will not communicate..i don't think ebay charged me anything and someone said there is a way ebay can put a black mark against someone who bids but does not pay...its not the owl..i really do not want to post a userid..he has 25 positive feedbacks..but then again the seller only has one choice for feedback..the positive button !! |

philb: Please make sure the buyer gets an unpaid item strike. It is important. It does help other buyers even if you do not let their names be known to anyone else. I have within my turbolister settings and sure many others sellers do to - if a buyer has a set number of unpaid item strikes within a set time (adjustable by seller to a degree) then that buyer cannot bid on any sellers items with those settings in place. That's the black mark and it works very well! |

Quote: So the bidder can kill me and smoke me...i will leave him a positive feedback saying IDIOT ! I understand that ebay frowns upon False Positive feedback. Battlestamps comments regarding the unpaid item strike are spot on. This is the professional way you need to deal with this buyer. And bar them from bidding on your items again. |
