Well Today I sold a Canada unitrade62 some of the members here placed bids, Before I start I wish it was one of them that won.

In my description I mention that any sales over $100 must be sent by reg mail at a cost of $7 CANADA and $13 rest of world this is the cost to send a letter reg in Canada so I feel fair to charge this. The auction ended at a total of $101 so to protect myself the item is being sent reg. I invoiced the buyer and mentioned the item will have to be sent reg mail as the sale was ove $100.
10 minutes later I get a message from him saying " A extra 13 dollars over the sake of a lousy $1"
Well I had a think about it and was willing to send it unregistered then I saw another message from him which read "
How about if it gets lost you only pay me back $90.
Now what to do I sent him a message that stated I was willing to send it and not to worry about registered mail but after a comment like that it seems you are wishing to lose the item and I will have to refund the cost as a result the item will only be sent by registered mail.

Good solution ! In my bad transaction the winning bidder absolutely refuses to communicate..so..result is ebay will make something since they consider the item sold...i feel taken advantage of..looks like the "bidder" gets away clean..unless someone knows something about ebay that I do not...

Excellent solution,
I must say, I would have been tougher, you set the rules,
perhaps for that "lousy dollar" he may not have won the bid.
It ticks me off when people try to alter terms after the sale.

Best advice I got on this website was about the pickle jar keep a little from each sale and when your in a pickle well the rest needs no explanation. pickled bananas

I have been in position and always cancel sale, if buyer penny pinches he/she will be trouble and not worth the time.
So I start again and look for one more reasonable

I nearly always choose to self-insure when I purchase. In 13 years of ebay trading, two items have gone astray. One, a $AUD1,000 postage due sold to Canada never arrived, thaksfully this was insured and a claim was made but I am sure if the contents of the envelope had not been identified on the outside of the envelope, there wouldn't have been a problem. The other was an envelope torn in half in the Royal Mail postal system, my £50 purchase was lost.

I'm sure you would have been more accommodating if the requst had been more polite.
