I have some custom album pages (currently 3-hole punched) that I want to use with SAFE hingeless overlay sheets and 14-hole SAFE binders.

Where would one go to have the pages punched to match the 14-hole layout of the overlay sheets and binders?

The only idea I could come up with is to contact a copy shop and see whether the equipment that they use for coil binding can be configured for custom spacing.

Any ideas?

When I needed to match Schaubek, I called my local commercial paper supplier, and they recommended a commercial printing shop that could match almost any custom hole arrangement. Might try that.

Here is a small excerpt from a commercial auction of the contents of a print shop -- at least such a thing existed at one time:

18 GBC 29 HOLE SPIRAL BINDER
19 AB DICK 14 HOLE PAPER PUNCH
20 JB 25 HOLE OFFSET PLATE PUNCH

No idea about size or spacing.

You can buy a handheld hole punch and just line up a sheet with one that's already punched and just punch away. They used to make a standard size hand-held hole punch and a hand-held that made a smaller hole.

Fiskars has a whole line of handheld punches in different hole sizes:

Ugh. 14 holes times several hundred pages, with positioning being absolutely critical... not something I would want to attempt by hand.

Nice idea but not workable in this case.

I'm waiting for a call back from a local print shop that I know has a drill press; I just don't know if they are willing to try a smaller sized bit.

try your local office supply store that does in-house printing (Staple, Office Max, Office Depot, etc) most of them do "comb-binding", which uses equipment that can be adjusted with number of holes and placement of said holes. only problem with it is that the holes used for comb-binding are rectangular, not round. but they are usually sized right that they would work with normal "D-ring" type binders. if you are using screw/post type binders, that may present a problem.

You can clamp them all and drill them with a drill press, if you have one handy.

You don't want to use a regular drill bit to punch paper; it will tear the pages. Print shops use bits that are cylinders with their edges sharpened. Paper drill bits can be seen here: https://officeequipmentmachineshop....ge/3862/side
