I believe this stamp corresponds to Scott 78a or 104a but since I have no other imperforate stamps from France, is there any other way to verify it is truly a stamp? imperforates always make me leery... (2 views of same stamp)
This is a "Cut square" from a piece of postal stationary. That is, it was a postcard with stamp printed directly on it and the stamp was cut out of the postcard. I can't help with value or catalogue number as Scott does not list postal stationary in their international catalogues. You would have to look in Yvert, Michel, or possibly Stanley Gibbons catalogues to find out more information.
