Thanks bookbndrbob! Here is one of the first 2020 Primates/Monkeys issues from the usual Africn countries, Sao Tome and Principe: The first shows a colobus, the spectacular guereza from East Africa and Ethiopia, with a side show of Sumatran ornag-utan baby, and rhesus monkeys; the accompanying issue has the common squirrel monkey, white-handed gibbon, rhesus monkey, and emperor tamarin. Not unattractive, and as a monkey collector, I do get them and other such African issues since these days, they are much nicer than some older issues (talking of illustrations in colour rather than photos). |

On October 2, 1996 Mexico issued a sheet of 24 different large stamps making up a panoramic view of a forested area. This sheet promotes the protection of the "Selva Humeda" and its birds and animals. The Selva Humeda includes the Yucatan Peninsula and the southern coast of the Gulf of Mexico. One of the stamps (Sc #2571) on this sheet includes depiction of a Mexican howler monkey. From Wikipedia, "The Mexican howler monkey (Alouatta palliata mexicana) is a subspecies of the mantled howler. This subspecies is found predominately in forests between south eastern Mexico and north eastern Peru...It is now located only in patches of forestry within these regions because loss of habitat has been so extensive." |

On May 27, 1986 the DDR issued a set of four stamps to commemorate the 125th anniversary of the Dresden Zoo. All four stamps depict primates, and the lower three values (Mi. #s 3019-21) show apes. The 70 pf value pictures a pair of lemurs. 10 pf. orangutan 20 pf. colobus monkey 50 pf. mandrill |

My main thematic collection is Primates. I think the following stamp is the most beautiful in my Primate collection and for sure my favorite: Madagascar - 1954 Designed and engraved by Pierre Gandon; Color proof assays in monochrome and mix of the two colors:
