Thailand. Afraid I can't say more.
Edit: Been looking at it some more. It looks revenue-ish. |

Hello Saief, welcome!
Put the word Thailand in teh title (edit your first post to edit the title) and that hopefully will attract someone who knows more about Thailand stamps. Oh, put something like this 'Thailand Revenue? help'.

The denomination is 1 Baht. See Scott #250 for a postal stamp with identical characters at lower left, Type A34. |

Thanks doug2222 for your help
Could you please explain to me what you meant by "see Scott #250 ... Type A34"? I am quite a beginner and I'm afraid I didn't understand what you meant. |

Ah. He means to look in the scott catalog, the standard catalog in America for Thailand #250 design type a34. I don't know what they use in France (Stanley gibbons, maybe?) but that is what he meant, I think. |

Thailand Scott catalogue #250 which is 1 Baht in denomination. This is cropped off a pic of a 1948 cover or lettre so this denomination was in use at that time, so perhaps a 1948 issue date or earlier could be suspected for your stamp also. Most revenue stamps (if that is what yours is) are not listed in the general all world catalogues like Scott's (USA) Stanley Gibbon's (Britain) or Yvert et Tellier or Maury (France) but in specialized catalogues just for revenues or possibly (depending on the country) in a specialized catalogue for each country, which go into much more detail about the stamps. Barefoot is a well known revenue catalogue (I don't have it). |

This is very helpful, You're very reactive guys, thanks for everyone. I went through the links you posted and I'm quite sure now this is a revenue stamp.
@Puzzler: yes mine is new and still has the gum on the back. Could you tell me what does this information mean? |

For most stamps being in a state of 'mint' or post office fresh as some call it, or Neuf ** or Neuf * (mint never hinged or mint hinged) makes a stamp more valuable.
However, there are always exceptions, in the case where a used example, in the correct time period, on am envelope or cover, as it is called, is worth more that a mint example. Unusual but it happens.
So, moving from top valued to lesser we have Mint Never Hinged MNH Mint Hinged MH Used
and the price difference is sometimes a lot (double, triple, etc) for MNH.
Catalogues usually show prices as Mint Never Hinged first (if that is the common way to find the stamps) (for older stamps they sometimes show Mint Hinged prices first as most stamps available in today's market have been hinged by previous owners already) and then used second, with sometimes a percentage shown for mark up if the older stamp has never been hinged.
Hinged means little adhesive paper hinges have been licked and stuck to the back of the stamp (even a little bit) and then licked on their larger part and stuck to an album page to display the stamp.
Now there are available plastic holders or mounts to hold stamps or plastic stock pages with varying sized pockets to hold teh stamps with clear plastic over to see through. |

You'll find a catalogue listing of Thailand revenue stamps on the website at www.J.Barefoot.co.uk under the category "Revenue Stamps - Information". Hope this helps collectors of Thailand revenues with similar queries. |

Welcome to Stamp Community Forum, John! Your catalogs/books are a de facto standard. You have an extra "." in your link, so that it is not working properly (at least for me). The correct link is www.JBarefoot.co.uk |
