One point I would like to highlight is "six dots over the Kopeck values is always genuine" is NOT always true.
The above reference and most general discussions state that.
I show a type III forgery - without overprint- and with 6 dots over the Kopeck value. ;-)

A word to the wise. :-)

I have to Batum stamps, used. Judging by Jkjblue's "curved branch" detail, my stamps appear genuine. Can anyone offer an opinion?

Thanks.

Hi Bee See,

I believe these are both forgeries. In both cases the righthand pair of branches split too low down compared with the other pairs.

In my opinion, they are both genuine.

(The arguments are embedded in my blog post.)

I read your very informative blog Jkjblue a while back and again today.

I agree, I think they are genuine, it would seem that on the genuine ruble values the branch split is lower than the others.

Based on what I have read in this thread - this example is a forgery.
