Now if anyone here wants it and has a big billfold you will more bidders to contend with. Never put a listing you wish to bid on a forum. Just a heads up. Also seems a bit pricey to me but then again it all depends if you collect that type of thing and iif it will fit nicely in your collection I suppose? Do what you feel without breaking the bank. Best of luck.

Now that you've erased it I want it even more!

I want what I can't have.

You could copy and paste picture(s) or text of the auction without saying where it is from. That would work mostly. I suppose some smart cookies would figure it out anyway though.

That's curious,
if someone posted an item they intended to bid on at auction,
(and they have here) It would just be second nature for me, not
to do the wrong thing, I would never bid.

It is curious the standards we all carry with us.

I agree with rod222
If some-one tells me that they are bidding on an item, then I would stay away as well.
I know how it feels when I am chasing rare Egyptology title and some-one I know wants it as well, and then they start bidding against me.
Horamakhet.

Sitting in an auction room, with your best friend alongside,
bidding for the same lot,
now that's interesting...
It's an "all's fair in love a war" situation.
Usually met with one aquiescing in fairness,
you generally know who wants it the most.

I'm out, too expensive for me!

According to the Durland catalog this is also a scarce plate number.

I too would honor the forum members but I've been duped from this very site! They didn't know it and neither did I until it popped up in a "look what I just bought" thread...lol

I find it interesting that the item was described as "Mint LH OG PL#, Straight edge" yet the perfs were clearly cut off of the right side. You might get another chance if the winning bidder returns the item.

The price was not bad. The main problem with this piece is the straight edge on the right. This is an arrangement 8 plate with the number above position 9. When these were perforated some sheets were cut into 2 panes, one of 100 and one of 70, which produces the straight edge. Plate blocks that were perforated as full sheets of 170 did not have straight edges and are more desirable and more expensive.

Yes, Russ.

A great example of this would be when I placed the first bid on irishjack's Penny Black and then "Secret Agent 597596" bid against me twice, and came back to brag about it...

but I admit I wouldn't have won anyway, so I'm just teasing
