Hi to all
This stamp was in with an accumulation of British Stamps.
Is it a stamp or a cinderella or even English?
It is postmarked 7-IX-98 and I can see the letters ON
All help always appreciated.
Regards
Horamakhet

I think you have it upside down?

Looks to be European to me because of the date format (day / month / year) and the nice bridge-type cancel (England does not use those).

Perhaps German or something like that. Perhaps a postage due or revenue stamp? The cross at the bottom of the cancel suggests Switzerland.

What place-names start with Z? Not many I would think.

Zurich? It looks like one of the early postage due issues from Switzerland.

Assuming it's Switzerland, the only two town names that fit (i.e. start with a "Z" and end with an "on") are:

Zollikon
Zumikon

MBriggy is correct, it is a postage due from Switzerland. You will need to check to watermark to do final ID.

A postmark collector might say you have it sideways.

Or you could just go by the postmark.
1898? Would have to be a J21 from 1884-97. The other (J29 - different watermark) is 1908-09, therefore too late.

Hi
I checked it for a watermark, but with shellite it is not showing, nor is it showing with a Morley bright(Do not like morley brights anyway)
Watermark must be very faint.
