Rod, I forgot to mention that the Sakura can also serve easily as a checklist, as they have little squares beside mint and used catalog prices that one could check off, or possibly enter a quantity into (if one writes small!).

I also forgot to mention that none of the Japan catalogs I mentioned covers revenue stamps (other than telegraph). There is a separate and even more elusive catalog, called the "Shimomura", after the gentleman who authored it. The first edition came out in 1957, and, for the longest time, the 1981 edition was the most recent. But he was still around and kicking in 2003, and came out with one more edition. As far as I know, that's still the latest.

The official name of that catalog, by the way, is "Standard Catalogue of the Japanese Revenue Stamps", 2003.

Rod, I didn't mean to leave the other part of your post unanswered.

I'm just recovering from a household move (and about a 2-year hiatus from stamps), but I'm on the cusp of digging out the stamps boxes and starting to figure out what's what. Once I do, I'll be happy to show stuff. Not sure what anyone would be interested in, but I'll definitely try to answer questions in the meantime (to the extent of my limited knowledge).

And apologies to all for sidelining this thread ...

I'm afraid it won't work, no matter how good your system is SCF doesn't support Japanese or Chinese display. I've tried it, and you just get gibberish.

Edit to add: Here are the kanji for 'Nissen':

For Turkey, people use "PULKO" catalogs. I wish they'd do a CD-ROM.
