Browsing the flea bay this morning I ran across a Germany collection in the US section. There were only a couple of bids so I set the sniping software and bagged it for $15 + $5 shipping. Is it a deal ? or average price for these items ? Heck, I have to think the binder and protectors alone are worth more than $20 ?

I think there is some very interesting stuff in this collection, with some good used inflation stmps!

I think you got a good deal out of the lot.

A nice mixture of material.

Looks like a bargain to me. Even though I own most of the material in that lot, I wouldn't have hesitated to grab it for that price. Well done.

Easily a $50 lot, with those choice earlies of 1873, 2DM blue, and good posthorns, and more. Plus you are lucky. Lucky I didn't see it first.

I like the reflection of the seller on the pages. a bit chaotic this collection. Nice material, good quantity, but nothing extraordinary as far as I could see.

I agree with the earlier comments, at $20 (or £12.50 to us) I would have jumped at that one! Well bought stallzer.

The "earlies" have choice cds cancels, selected out of many, I'm sure; now to find out if they're sound copies or just a pretty face.

Thanks for the input. When it comes to Germany I can only guess. When it arrives I'll post some scans.

Well the Collection arrived and it looks good. Unfortunately I don't think there are any hidden gems but I have just cracked the first layer, so there is still hope. The few that I was hoping for are not the ones I had crossed my fingers for.

I still have not figures out exactly which catalog numbers these 3 are but I'm pretty close.

I believe this to be either a Scotts 92, or 75

Scott's 79 ?

Scott's 78 or 95 ?

I'll post up more as I dig through the book.

The last one is Sc. #704 with a funny cancel.
The 2 M. is probably #78 because the cancel reads 27-1-03 and #95 was issued in 1905. You can also check watermarks.

I know the last one, I've just never seen an overprint / Cancel like that. Makes one wonder if it was just a bored collector with a rubber stamp ?
