Canada issued this souvenir sheet in 2008 to honour Yousuf Karsh's 100th birth date. Karsh was an Armenian-Canadian born in the Ottoman Empire. He was one of the greatest photographers of the 20th century just look at the border of the SS to see how many famous personalities sat for him. None is more iconic than Winston Churchill's scowling portrait. Canada Scott 2271  |

The two East German stamps posted by @ParcelPostGuy here were posted at my request, as I own the cameras shown on them. The first stamp shows Praktica and Praktisix SLRs and the next stamp shows an Exakta Varex I / VX I. All are excellent cameras and I have been using one of my Exaktas to photograph things, primarily buildings, lately. |

The camera in the Eric Schwab stamp is a Rolleiflex TLR made by Rollei in Germany. It was kind of the standard choice for photographers for many years. There were many, many different models made, but all are functionally identical, except technically what is called the Baby Rolleiflex, which used 127 film. The Rolleiflex range has been consistently valuable and desirable among collectors and photographers. |
