The more I thought about a past topic regarding how we keep track of our collections the more I liked Rod's method of marking up a catalog. I have the 2006 Scott 6 volume set but didn't have the Specialized volume. And it is the worldwide classics that I focus on anyway for my used collection. So, off to ebay I went to see if I could find one. I just so happened to find the 2006 volume in hardcover that looked practically unused. I won the bid at $27. I really expected to pay more and see more bidders. Wonder why? Yeah, the prices are 6 years old but it is not the prices that I am interested in, just *one* volume that has the stamps in my collection highlighted.

So, thanks Rod for the idea. I'm looking forward to that volume.

Ron

It should work well.

I markup my 2011 for my WW classical collection inventory.

I take it with me to stamp club meetings etc, so I have a reference of what I have and what I might like.

Thanks Jkjblue, I'm really looking forward to getting that volume and I like the idea of having everything in one place. I have spent a lot of time creating an excel spreadsheet where I have everything but when it is time to see what I have/don't have I'm not always at the computer.

And oh, by the way, I really like your Big Blue blog. I can't even imagine how much time it takes for you to do that. I find it most informative. Thanks for that effort!

I have a friend who uses this method, and coincidentally doesn't collect Canada...can't explain why...he just doesn't.

He pastes cinderellas, local posts, etc., over Canada in his catalogue, and he is tickled pink that he has everything in one place.

Further indication, as if any was needed, that "to each their own."

Just received the 2006 Specialized catalog in the mail today. I can already see that this volume will be the perfect thing to keep a listing of all the classic stamps that I have. And that highlighting idea of Rod's will be just perfect to let me know where the gaps are. Couldn't be more pleased. And it's a big bonus that it is hardbound.

hey gang my name Arthur and I am sorta new to catooging my stamps
So my question is what scott book would be best for me? I have a 20,000+
Collection of world stamps. Some places I've never heard of and some stamp
Overs . Also where would be the cheapest place to find said book?
It can be an older addition most of my stuff is pre 2000.
Thanks for any help on this subject.

I would start by checking on E-Bay! And go for the oldest one that you could use.

Stamp_Dazed, as you don't mention what years you collect, I just want to make certain it is clear that the Scott Classic catalog covers 1840-1940 except for the British Empire which goes through 1952. Having said that, I concur that the Classic catalog is great and is also available in electronic form for the iPhone and iPad.

Good deal! I was going to suggest finding an older collection of Scott's to buy, and you did it.

I have been lucky and found that my local libraries sometimes put the
older catalogs in the Dollar Bin when the new ones come in. You may
want to check there.

I have a copy of the 2007 Scott Classic Specialized catalogue that is collecting dust. (I bought a newer copy.). If Ron would like it, just send me an email.
