Although I've been collecting early Spanish stamps for quite a while, I haven't bought anything of any significance for around 5 years. Actually, about 5 years ago I had to sell off a lot of my better items, including most of my 1850 issues, because of financial difficulties the wife and I were having. Quite a few of the items I'll probably never be able to replace, but I was glad to be able to sell some things of value.

Today, even though the economy is bad and I still don't have very much extra cash to spend on stamps, I was able to finally get a #3 to put back in my collection. My album looked so bare.

This was a pretty good price and is totally genuine. I just hope there are no "hidden problems".

This copy appears to be type 5 in the block of 30 types.

Yeah, I like it too!

That cancellation is the normal cancel for the issue. The queen really thought highly of herself and didn't want her face obliterated by an unsightly cancel, so that is what they came up with to border her beauty. Most of the ones you see however are not centered and wind up covering her "beauty" anyway.

Very nice stamp and cancel. 162 years old ! I wonder how many collectors own this stamp since 1850.
