I have just had stolen or lost about $500
worth of rare stamps
They were sent from Canada, and I can track them
until they left Canada.

As soon as they presumably hit Australia they became lost/stolen.

Here is Australias's response

Hi Rodney,

I am sorry to read in this enquiry that you are concerned about the delivery of your article CC1XXXXXXXXXX. I am willing to assist you but unfortunately we have no record of your article arriving in Australia.

I recommend you inform the sender and request for an investigation to be instigated overseas. According to the Universal Postal Union Agreement (UPU) the sender has the authorisation to lodge investigations to locate an article or claim for total loss.

I would also like to inform you, your article number belongs to a non trackable service and is sent by Regular Airmail. Hence we do not have any scans on our web page.

If tracking is one of your options, in future I recommend you use the premium service Express Courier International (ECI). It features full tracking, an estimated delivery time frame of two to four business days and requires a signature on delivery.

I hope the sender lodges an investigation at the earliest.

Kind regards,

My question is, Does Canada track the item the entire trip to delivery?
or does Aust take over the tracking?

If the item is lost in Australia, I still go back to the sender to calim loss?

Thanks for any contributions.
